IntraNerve is Here to Help
Thank you for trusting us with your care. If you’re visiting this page, you likely have or will be receiving neurodiagnostic care during your procedure. If you have received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company regarding our services, you have come to the right place. The services have been provided under Neuromonitoring Services of America, Inc., dba IntraNerve Neuroscience. The first step is understanding that an EOB is different from a bill. We know medical bills can feel confusing, so we’ve made this page simple and straightforward to answer your most common questions.

What is Neuromonitoring?

Neuromonitoring is a safe, specialized way to watch your brain, spinal cord, or nerves in real time, whether during surgery or in the hospital. It includes two main approaches your care team may have used:

Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IONM): used in the operating room to protect nerves and brain function while you’re under anesthesia.

EEG (electroencephalography) monitoring, including continuous EEG: used to painlessly track brain activity at the bedside, such as in the ICU or epilepsy monitoring unit.

Both methods use gentle electrical signals and recordings to help your care team monitor and protect important functions like movement, sensation, and speech. Think of it as an extra set of highly trained eyes and ears in the operating room or at your bedside, giving your doctors immediate information so they can keep you as safe as possible.

why was it used in my healthcare?

Your healthcare facility and/or surgeon chose neuromonitoring because your surgical procedure involved areas close to critical nerves or your brain. It’s a standard safety step in many surgeries (such as spine, brain, neck, or ear procedures) and for patients who need close watching in the ICU or epilepsy monitoring unit. Most patients never feel or notice the monitoring itself because it happens quietly in the background while you’re under anesthesia or resting comfortably. Its only purpose is to help protect you.

about YOUR EOB

The remote professional neuromonitoring services provided by our team of board certified, fellowship trained neurologists are billed separately from the on-site technical neuromonitoring services provided and charged to the healthcare facility and submitted directly to your insurance provider.

We keep our billing practices clear, ethical, and transparent. There are no hidden fees, and we work hard to make sure the process is as straightforward as possible.

You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
